This article is in response to a change that Google has made to their Chrome browser which has begun to impact the L&D industry. The change has affected how some SCORM packages send results back to the LMS.
Often SCORM packages retain completion data until the window displaying the SCORM is closed. When the window closes, the browser would allow time for the results to be sent back to Moodle™ before closing.
This delay causes the browser to appear sluggish or non-responsive. As a result, Google and other browser manufacturers have changed their browsers to prevent this from happening.
This has prevented some SCORM packages from returning data to the LMS.
While eCreators and Moodle™ HQ have been working to resolve the problem, it appears that some SCORM packages can no longer rely on recording completions in this way.
What to do?
We have put together the following flowchart to help address this problem. If you have a SCORM package that is no longer recording completions, or that only records completions some of the time, please refer to the following chart to resolve the problem.
